Shell: I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. My husband and I have been trying to grow our family since early 2008. Two IUI's, and one IVF later we were excitedly expecting and due January 27, 2011. Then we experienced the loss of our firstborn daughter Leia Grace born sleeping on January 11, 2011. Several weeks after her birth we learned that she had Down syndrome. This blog is reflections on life after this huge loss of our daughter and trying to remember our precious baby girl who I carried for just over 37 weeks. Our story has not ended though as we learned in late 2011 that we were expecting a second time which happened naturally. Our rainbow baby who I refer to as LB in this blog arrived on May 17, 2012. He is a healthy, happy and active baby. The story has not ended though because with LB's arrival I sunk into post-partum depression. I have been hospitalized twice since LB's birth and have finally found the right combination of medications that help me feel like I can go on with my life and that my hubs and I can be happy with our beautiful son LB who is here on earth.
